Smoke and heat extraction systems (RWA)

Smoke kills before fire does. Smoke and heat extraction systems keep escape and rescue routes clear, lower the temperature and create visibility for evacuation and firefighting.

At a glance.

In a fire it is not the flame that decides the chance of survival, but the smoke. Smoke and heat extraction systems vent it outside in a controlled way and hold the smoke-free layer above the escape routes open for as long as it is needed.

  • NRWA — natural smoke extraction: roof windows, dome lights, smoke extraction flaps
  • MRWA — powered systems: fan-assisted extraction where natural buoyancy is not sufficient

We calculate the required extraction area, install the actuators, control panels and trigger points, commission the system and keep it in the recurring inspection regime.

    Acceptance & commissioning

    Effectiveness test, briefing, handover of the logbook and operating documentation.
