Open in everyday use, closed automatically in a fire. Hold-open systems resolve the conflict between step-free passage and closed fire compartments.
At a glance.
Fire doors only work when they are closed. In everyday use they get in the way wherever people and material have to pass through constantly — and are then wedged open, which defeats the fire protection.
A hold-open system holds the door open electromagnetically and releases it as soon as a detector triggers or the power supply fails. The passage stays step-free and the fire compartment stays effective.
